Ok, can I brag a little here?? I think I have to tell this story so that all the brides-to-be out there who's fiances are less than stoked about engagement photos have some hope.
When I met Madolyn + Ralph downtown for their engagement photos, Ralph's first words were something along the lines of "let's get this party over with." Only, instead of 'party' you can insert an expletive of your choice. Madolyn had warned me that he was not super excited about photos, so I was mentally prepared for the worst. Of course that made me immediately determined to make the experience enjoyable in some way. Because I knew how much the photos meant to Madolyn. And I'm stubborn.
My strategy was to get moving. Before ever taking my lens cap off, I led them through the streets, casually chit-chatting about random stuff, and minutes, he was like putty in my hands! MUAHAHA! Just kidding. But seriously, it didn't take long for him to relax.
At the end of the session, he admitted he had a "little" fun. Just a little. Which was a total 180 flip from his first sentence, so I did my happy dance. Madolyn emailed me later to thank me, and even revealed that on the car ride home, he admitted to having more fun than he thought he would. BOOM! Game, set, match.
So bring on your stubborn fiances and I will wave my magic wand and cast a spell of happiness on them, or at least a spell of having "little" fun.
